The idea of SmarterBike is to add small affordable sensors to bikes and connect them to a smartphone app. By this we want to collect environmental data from as man bikers as possible to find out which are the most pleasant routes for biking. The aggregated data will also enable municipalities to see which streets are mostly used by bikers and which pavement surface needs to be fixed. The ultimate goal is it to create a bike navigation app which can recommend routes which are smoothly surfaced, less noisy and better illuminated at night. A first proof of concept has been presented on the Berlin Hack your City Hackathon 2015 with the help of the wunderbar sensor kit from relay (https://www.relayr.io/products-services/wunderbar).
